As August approaches, we wrap up the last month of summer and before you know it, we will be cramming in the books, trekking to class in the snow. (yuck!)
With the last few weeks remaining, what better thing to do than try something new. And when I say new, I mean indulging into some happy hour drinks!
Why not enjoy yourself by sipping come cocktails under the summer sun with friends, before the last final farewells.
So, in honour of the last few summer hurrahs, I’ve decided to share with you some refreshing drinks that I’ve tried this summer.
1. Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit)
If you like the taste of sour fruits, with the bubbly consistency of mineral water, than you will love this low cal beer imported from Austria. Its refreshing and light, perfect for hot summer days or a casual drink to crack open after a long days work. It’s a must try for all my girls who love fruity drinks and want to switch it up… because change is a good thing!
2. Twisted Tea (Classic)
This twisted drink is imported from the Boston Beer Company in the US. It’ s a hard iced tea that literally tasted like the REAL deal. In fact, the first time I tired it, I thought it was a joke. Even though it’s 5% alcohol, it tastes exactly like an ordinary Nestle Tea. It comes in an array of flavors, but so far the classic is my favourite.
3. Shock Top Lemon Shandy
This Belgian styled beer is created by Labatt Breweries right here in Canada! This natural lemon/ citrus tasting beer goes down smooth, and leaves a refreshing crisp taste in your mouth. However, I found this one quite sugary, but would still recommend it for those who want to try something different, it’s worth your attention!
4. Seagram Wine Coolers (Peach Fuzzy Navel)
This tropical tasting drink of juicy peaches and oranges is perfect for a girl’s night in! It’s very flavorful, fun to sip and puts a twist on your ordinary Cooler.
5. Very Berry Sangria
This is a recipe you can make and spice up in your own kitchen. Who doesn’t love a classy cocktail every once in a while…or every night aha. Sangria is perfect to make up if you’re hosting a large get together or need something quick and easy. This is a crowd pleaser, visually appealing, and won’t break your bank.
- 1 bottle of your favorite red wine
- 2 cups cherry-pomegranate juice or cranberry juice
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/2 pound cherries (fresh or frozen), pitted and halved
- 1 cup quartered strawberries
- 3/4 cup blueberries
This is perfect since lots of these fruits are in season, and what better way to use them up than by mixing them with wine.
I hope you all find the time to sit down in the next month or so and try one of these tasty summer drinks.
Let me know if you try them, or of any other recipes I should try before summer closes 🙂
