Monday Motivation

All of society seems to dread the M word. Mondays represent more than just the start to a possibly long and dreadful week, but it signifies a new beginning to fulfill and conquer goals you slacked on the previous week. Remember that saying “look good, feel good?” This is my Monday motto. When you dress presentable, you’re more likely to not only be taken seriously, but also feel more confident in your skin. So, when I wake up on a Monday morning, I like to put my best foot forward and dress in my all time favourite shades of black and white. It’s chic, fresh, classic, and flatters all body types and complexions. So here is your Monday motivation. Roll out of bed, make yourself a nice coffee and get inspired! Avoid reaching for that baggy hoodie, and put a little effort into your life! You’re a big girl and it’s about time you start dressing like one. You want to land that Vogue internship? Or start a beauty channel on YouTube? Want to be …

Glamorous Bedroom Decor

Happy New Year loves! I hope you all had a fun celebration with family and friends and 2015 treats you well! With a new year, I decided to update my bedroom décor and transition from a teen to a more mature adult space. I am obsessed with light grey, black, white and silver. Using these colours, my goal was to create a modern yet vintage, chic, glamorous space that was still soft and comforting. I am so happy with the end result and thought I’d share it with you guys, to give you some bedroom inspiration. The majority of furniture in my room is white and modern, however I used this antique desk to break up the space. The wood brings more warmth to an otherwise cold space. I paired this beautiful chair with a diamond white and grey pattern from Target that embodies a vintage flare. Originally this dresser was wood with a light stain, so I sanded it down and painted it a crisp white and picked up crystal knobs to give it …

Holiday Treats

Tis the season to indulge in delicious, decadent desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. My family and I love baking throughout the holidays and today I am going to share with you four of my favourite holiday desserts. THE PERFECT MAPLE FUDGE One of my favourite favours is maple and this is by far the best fudge recipe I have ever tried. My mom bakes this every Christmas and it’s defiantly a crowd pleaser in my family. 64 servings     Prep: 10 minutes   Cook: 20 minutes plus cooling Ingredients 1 teaspoon plus 1 cup butter (divided) 2 cups packed brown sugar 5oz evaporated milk 2 teaspoons maple favouring ½ teaspoon vanilla extract 1/8 teaspoon salt 2 cups confectioners’ sugar Directions  Line an 8 inch with foil; grease foil with 1 teaspoon butter or use a loaf pan for thicker fudge Cube remaining butter. DIY Prada Art

Today I’m going to show you how to create the above Prada Marfa artwork. One of my all time favourite television shows will forever be Gossip Girl, which inspired the idea for this painting. For those of you familiar with the show, there is a massive Prada painting in the Van Der Woodsen penthouse, which I fell in love with (see photo above). So, after years of looking where to buy a replica and having no such luck, I finally decided to take on the challenge of creating it myself. It took a lot of patience and 2 days to complete. However, the finished product is super satisfying and glamorous. To begin you will need the following items: A canvas (I used a 36” by 42” canvas, but you can scale it down to fit your space) White and black paint Paint roller/ fine paint brush A Sharpie Masking tape A pencil A ruler Step 1 Prep the canvas by using a roller to paint the surface and the sides. I like a roller better …

Back To School: Fall 2014 Fashion

It’s hard to believe summer is fading away and within a couple days, I’ll be back in my University’s hometown. However, I am more than ready to move back and reunite with all my friends. When it comes to shopping and fashion, my favourite season has always been Fall and with the arrival of the autumn air, comes back to school shopping. There’s no better excuse for a new wardrobe, than a brand new school year. The excitement of buying new fall clothes always out weighed the realities of the work and the stress involved with school. There is something to be said about that first day back. It’s a chance to show off the new you, the more mature you and your personal style, whether it’s following trends or making your own. Recently, I did a little back to school shopping with one of my besties. We had a lovely girls day in the city, shopping and eating, making a big dent in our bank accounts (oops). That being said, I’m going to share …

6 Real Facts About University

1. It’s easier to make friends than you think Everyone is in the same boat. Going into first year, I knew exactly 3 people from my high school that chose the same University as me. I wasn’t close with them, so essentially I knew no one and believe me it was scary and exciting all at the same time. But in the end I’m glad, because it forced me to get out of my shell and open up. I’ve created so many friendships that I’m extremely grateful for and have met a ton of interesting people I wouldn’t of otherwise met. Most importantly, keep an open mind. This is honestly an exciting time in your life, don’t let it pass you by. 2. Food becomes a huge deal Whether you’re in first year and forced to eat the crappy dining hall food or an upper year student on a budget, having to cook all your meals. At some point in time roommates WILL steal food, it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but trust me …
